Pixar 2010 Toy Story 3 Benefit Screening
Record breaking year! Not only did we meet our goal of $100,00, but we broke past it raising $110,000! This year was also the first time we’ve had guests from out of country. With amazing food, guided tours and a silent auction that include eight autographed posters from Pixar, this year’s Pixar event was simply an outstanding one! Oh, don’t forget the giant Ken Dollhouse in the middle of the atrium.
Read Across America 2010
March 2nd marked a special day, of Dr.Suess’ 106th birthday. Volunteers came by to read out loud, even though the weather was full of clouds. The children, who were overflowing of eager, waited patiently for their reader. As soon as someone walked in with a book, the kids dropped their tasks to take a look. Hurray, great timing, you’re finally here! The class huddled around, as they greeted with cheers.

Bay 2 Bahia Dance-a-thon
The Target Success Academy of Emeryville Secondary School campaigned a Dance-a-thon fundraiser. Participants joined in on hours of dancing and music, which helped support and raise money for their upcoming field trip to Bahia, Brazil.
Art Shop Tour for Ikea Visit
Ikea has been a big part in providing the Emeryville schools and district offices with furniture and supplies. Their most recent donation was much needed supplies for the art shop, which the art students now take full advantage of. Lisa Finn-Ciccoli from Ikea came to take a tour and see how the donated supplies were put to use.

Kaiser Conversations
As part of the Counseling Department Career Development component, on Thursday, November 5th, periods 2, 3, or 4, Emery Secondary School students sat down to have a dialogue with a Kaiser executives to learn more about careers, particularly background on the administrative and operations side of Kaiser. Nine thoughtful Kaiser Permanente professionals shared for nearly a four hour period with forty three students what they did to prepare for their jobs, and focused on how they undertake the business, technology, and engineering aspect of their work. Thanks to Cecil Grimes, and the team who participated in “Conversations with Kaiser Permanente.” These caring individuals provided good advice, answered questions and encouraged Emery Secondary School students to pursue college and obtain a career that inspires them.
Barnes & Noble Book Fair Opening
Emeryville Barnes & Noble on Bay Street hosted the opening for the first public book fair. To kick off the book fair and book drive, cast members from Wicked performed and did table signing.
DonorsChoose Workshop
A DonorsChoose Representative came to Emery Ed Fund’s Office to provide a workshop open to teachers and staff of EUSD. Audience was taught how to utilize DonorsChoose.org and were given gift donations of $50 to start off their donation campaigns.
STEM Academy Tour at Biotech Companies
Students of the STEM Academy take tours at the Gallo Institute and Bayer HealthCare.
The Emery Ed Fund sponsored the first Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Academy at Emery Secondary School. The Program is a collaborative effort on behalf of the Cal Teach Program at UC Berkeley and the Emery Unified School District.
